Composite materials with polysulfone (PSF), microcrystalline cellulose (CMC) extracted from sargassum, and iron nanoparticles (NPFe) at a ratio of 1:33 (additive: PSF of PSF-CMC, PSF-NPFe, PSF-CMC-NPFe, and PSF were evaluated for the adsorption of indigo blue (AI) dye at an initial concentration of 50 mg/L. The materials were prepared with (TT) and without heat treatment (STT). The adsorption tests were carried out using 50 mL of solution adjusted to pH 6.0, with a stirring speed of 125 rpm, an adsorbent mass of 0.25 g, and a contact time of 210 min. The adsorption efficiency was evaluated using kinetic and isothermal models. The maximum adsorption capacity of the STT materials was 7.15, 6.75, 5.72, and 5.96 mg/g for PSF, PSF-CMC, PSF-NPFe, and PSF-CMC-NPFe STT, respectively, and 4.22, 6.14, 7.06, and 6.40 mg/g for TT, respectively. All materials exhibit pseudo-second-order adsorption kinetics. The Langmuir model fitted all materials adequately, indicating that the adsorption process was dominated by monolayer chemisorption.
