In the present work, a design of experiments (DoE) was carried out to evaluate the parametric influence of the RMD filler metal transfer mode when used for additive arc metal manufacturing (WAAM) in carbon steel. The objective of the parameterization is to obtain the optimal conditions for wall construction using the WAAM process. The parameters of the WAAM process (feed rate, deposition rate and arc length) were determined using a full factorial design of experiments. Aspect ratio, deposition rate and contact angle were considered as response variables in single layer constructions. For the 5-layer wall construction, deposition rate and average height were considered as response variables. Subsequently, through statistical analysis it was determined that the feed rate and filament feed rate are essential for wall construction. In addition, the use of RMD transfer mode is feasible for WAAM application due of the increased deposition rate in the built-up layers.
