In the present work, the macrographic analysis of the parametric influence of the RMD™ transfer mode on the welding of thin gauge (1.2mm) stainless steel sheets were carried out. By applying a 2³ Factorial Design of Experiments (DoE), the effect of feed rate, welding torch feed rate and arc length (Arc Length) on bead morphology was analyzed. As responses, bead continuity, filler material dilution in the base metal and aspect ratio were quantified by digital image analysis of bead cross sections. Subsequently, the different morphologies of the beads produced in the experiments were observed. Through the analysis of variance (ANOVA) it was determined that the feed rate and arc length are the parameters with the greatest influence on the morphology and aspect ratio of the beads. and appearance of the strands.
