Abstract

The highly competitive environment in which higher education institutions operate and the demand for professionals with comprehensive training makes it essential to implement strategies for the continuous improvement of academic and critical thinking skills. This paper presents from the perspective of the theory of resources, capabilities, academic effectiveness resulting from preparation. In addition, the participation and success of the students of the Instituto Tecnológico de Morelia in Economic-Administrative Sciences, taking into consideration the implementation of the new educational model of the Tecnológico Nacional de México.
According to the results obtained and the experiences lived, both by participants and advisors, this type of competitions represent a propitious space for the development of capabilities. These capabilities are the resolution of complex problems, teamwork and the application of theoretical knowledge to practice.
