Abstract

This paper analyzes the fundamental concepts of thermodynamics and their relation to natural processes in the human body. The self-regulating mechanisms of the human body are approached from an anatomical perspective and have been extensively studied for medical and biological purposes. However, they can also be approached from an engineering perspective, enabling their understanding and analysis from an alternative perspective, thereby opening up possibilities in this field of research. Therefore, an engineering perspective on the thermodynamic functioning of the human body is presented, showing that it resembles that of a reversible thermal machine.
